Biography

Ms. Hamilton is a lecturer in electrical engineering at University of Washington Bothell. She has a BS and MS EE from Stanford and an MBA from Boston University. She’s a life senior member of the IEEE, a registered professional engineer in Texas and Massachusetts and has 10 issued patents. She’s spent most of her career as an entrepreneur and author of Hamilton C shell, now a little over 250K lines of C. She was also the ninth member of the team at Microsoft that created the Bing search engine, for which she wrote the query language (the compiler) and ranker for the first release in January 2005. Her code, roughly 30K lines of C++ out of a little over 300K in the backend, decided what users were looking for, searched the index, then ordered the results.
